At approximately 10:30 GMT masked gunmen shouting “Allahu Akbar” stormed the offices of the satirical French Magazine Charlie Hebdo, known for their Muhammad cartoons, killing 12 people, including 2 police officers. Although the White House issued a statement condemning the attacks, they’re unsure as to the motivation. Probably because “‘The future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam’ – Obama, 2012.
I completely disagree.
The future must not belong to those who commit murder in their God’s name.
Much like you cannot classify all Baptist’s as Westboro, you shouldn’t classify all Muslim’s as Jihadist’s. However, in this instance I feel the need to echo Keith Powell and label the people who kill in the name of their religion “extremist nutjobs.”
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those who were viciously murdered this morning, and my heart goes out to the French people during these turbulent times.
Keep Calm and Charlie On.
Je Suis Charlie.
