Of of the more amusing facial expressions made by those in the media comes after an accusation is made they are biased in favor of Democrats. It looks like a cross between how a person looks when they are punched in the gut and when they are slapped in the face.
They just cannot seem to fathom not why, but how anybody could think such
a thing. They almost always deny it.
The problem is, they limit the scope of their “shock” to the overall content of what they write or report on. Certainly, media types have done that before. People are pro-life are often called “anti-choice” or “anti-abortion” while abortion advocates are referred to as “pro-choice” or supporters of “reproductive rights.”
But it goes deeper than that and most conservatives will tell you it is not so much how the media covers and issue but rather how much time is spent by the media reporting on an issue. That kind of bias was on full display over the last few days as the media did their best Woodward and Bernstein imitation, doing all they could to report on Elizabeth Lauten, a GOP staffer who had the audacity to do the unthinkable: She said something negative about the Obamas, particularly about daughters Malia and Sasha and their behavior at some stupid turkey pardoning event.
The “leave the Presidential children alone” cry was bandied about online from self-righteous Obama boot-lickers, acting as though liberals have treated the offspring of Republicans with decency and respect. That accusation is a steaming pile of bullshit worthy of separate post, but it was amusing nonetheless to see people say it with a straight face.
The ferocity for which the press went after story reeks of coordination. In fact, I have it on good authority that White House operatives fed this story to the media and the press, being the good little lap-dogs they are, ran with it. Under normal circumstances, this would be a “story” that would linger on MSNBC for a few days and watched by thousands. But not this time. It was covered on all the network nightly news shows:
“It is one of the few rules that the news media and the mob usually both adhere to: Leave families out of the fight. However, tonight a Republican staffer is out of a job after something she wrote on social media about the first daughters,” NBC News’ Brian Williams said during Monday’s evening newscast.
“CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” followed suit: “[E]lizabeth Lauten: A congressional aide whose Facebook post about President Obama’s daughters, Malia and Sasha, sparked a firestorm.”
ABC News’ “World News Tonight With David Muir” said this Monday: “The Republican aide [sparked] a firestorm when she posted criticism of the first daughters.”
The media was so hellbent on finding out everything they could about Lauten that the Washington Post had their foreign affairs correspondent digging into Lauten’s college op-ed articles. Click through and read that article. It is a disgrace. It’s worthy of something to be written on that crapfest, Gawker. Ben Bradlee is rolling over in his effing grave.
And yet these idiots sit around and wonder why most people trust them less than the stereotypical sleazy used car salesman.
In the meantime, these same media outlets had to practically be dragged kicking and screaming to provide any coverage of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber and his uncovered remarks showing deception was purposely used to get The Affordable Care Act passed and that the voting public was generally too stupid to catch on.
“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber said during an academic panel discussion in 2013. “Call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever. But basically, that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass.”
The conservative activist group American Commitment first uncovered Gruber’s 2013 remarks and posted the video to YouTube Nov. 7.
Six days later, CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley offered that network’s first Gruber comment, saying Republicans had turned him into “an all-important player.” CBS News’ Jan Crawford also reported on Gruber’s remarks the same day.
“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” has yet to cover the Gruber controversy. NBC News’ Chuck Todd did, however, address the issue on Nov. 16 when he asked Secretary for Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell during a “Meet the Press” interview to respond to the MIT health economist’s remarks.
“World News Tonight With David Muir” didn’t cover Gruber’s controversial comments, which continued to grow in number with the unearthing of additional videos from separate events, until Nov. 18, when the network dedicated one minute and 16 seconds to the topic.
Obamacare is one of the largest government programs ever devised. It has become one of the largest expansions of the federal government in our nation’s history and yet Brian Williams and NBC Nightly News has not spend one second reporting on what Gruber said.
Not one second.
Yet, they devoted an entire segment of their show to “reporting” on a FB wall post by a Republican staffer. This reporting has led to her being doxed, with her home address and phone number being plastered all over the Internet. I have no doubt she has received death threats. She’s out of a job. She’s in hiding.
I really hope those jackals in the media are proud of themselves. You’re all a complete disgrace to the memory of somebody like Edward R. Murrow.
